Your Gilbert Orthodontist
Meet Dr. Scott Day
Dr. Day grew up in Rochester, Minnesota, where at age 14—and in braces himself—he decided to become an orthodontist.
After graduating from Mayo High School, he attended Brigham Young University, where he majored in Biology and completed his pre-dental requirements. He earned his DMD with high honors from Oregon Health Sciences University, graduating first in his class.
While in Dental School the US Army offered to pay the rest of Dr. Day’s educational expenses. Dr. Day and his family then chose the scenic route through school. He accepted the Health Professions Scholarship and served in the Army for the next 10 years - finishing dental school in Portland, Oregon, working on Active Duty soldiers and family members at an Army base in Germany, completing his Orthodontic Residency in Louisville, Kentucky and then serving as the Chief of Orthodontics at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas.
After completing their Army commitment in 2005 Dr. Day, his wife Allison, and their 4 children moved to Gilbert Arizona to settle down. That is when they established Oasis Orthodontics. Growing up in Minnesota anywhere with palm trees just seemed so amazing that creating an Oasis in Arizona seemed like the perfect place to work and raise a family. And it has been just that!
Dr. Day and Allison enjoy traveling and volunteering in the community. One of their favorite community projects is the Higley Knight Statue that Oasis and the Day family helped create and install at Higley High School in 2020.
The Day children are all married and beginning their own adventures. Now “Mimi and Major” (his Army rank) are enjoying the grandparent stage of life!

Higley Knight Statue Project
All 4 of the Day children attended Higley High School. As their youngest son Tanner started his senior year in 2019 he was serving as student body president and Allison was serving as the president of the school booster club whose mission was improving the lives of students and the physical appearance of the school. The booster club asked the student council what they would like to leave as their customary lasting gift to the school that year. The students responded that they would love to create a bronze statue of the school mascot – the Higley Knight.
As Allison looked into what it would take to create a statue, she found that the price was significant - much higher than anything the board had ever taken on before. The first impulse was to respond that it was too much money and too difficult a project to take on. In discussing the situation with Dr. Day they realized that telling the students that the project was too big would send a message that they needed to have smaller dreams! As parents they had always taught their children that they could do hard things and to dream big! With the 20th anniversary of the school approaching, they realized that this would be a good time for a big project! It would also be a good way for the Day family to give back to Higley in gratitude for the wonderful education and experiences the school had provided for their children. They decided that Oasis Orthodontics would be a primary sponsor and donor to support the project. The booster club then reconsidered and with faith in the support of the community, they went to work fundraising.
They found a sculptor – Scott Streadbeck of Main Street Art in Alpine Utah – and began the design process. First a sketch mockup, then a digital 3D rendering of a 10 foot Knight statue was finalized. In November 2019 the booster wrote it's first check to the sculptor and the statue came closer to reality! They found the families and businesses in the community to be extremely generous and kind in supporting the students. The fundraising and creative process continued and the full-size statue was built in clay. Then in the spring of 2020 an obscure virus started spreading and the world suddenly came to a standstill.
Covid 19 posed a significant hurdle and definitely caused a loss of momentum but they had come this far, and they were not going to give up. After all, they could do hard things!!
In May of 2021 the Higley Knight Statue was installed. It was placed under several large shade sails on an elevated concrete platform at the front of an open gathering area that had been there for many years with nothing as a centerpiece of focus. It is as if they had been waiting for 20 years for the knight statue to arrive! Today the statue is a larger-than-life example of strength and greatness looking out to protect and defend all in the Higley community. Students can look to the knight each day as an inspiration, helping them realize that they are better than they think at that moment and that they can do hard things!
At the base of the statue is a plaque with the Knight’s Code that was created by the student council students who helped inspire the knight’s creation.
The Knight’s Code
Knights are sworn to honor.
They are brave in the face of danger.
They are steady under duress.
They are ready to defend the helpless.
They are honest, true, and just.
They are wise in judgement,
but always eager to learn.
They will fight to the final breath,
loyal to the banner they serve.
They are humble in victory,
kind in defeat,
and unified in common purpose.
Live Knight Strong.
